What is GWEF
Gold Wing European Federation (GWEF) is a European federation of national clubs for owners of Honda Gold Wing motorcycles.
The federation brings together clubs from different European countries and promotes the development of international contacts among Gold Wing owners, exchange of experience, organization of meetings, and motorcycle touring.
GWEF operates according to its Domestic Regulations and serves as a coordination platform connecting national clubs.

History of the Federation
The history of GWEF began in 1978, when the first international meeting of Gold Wing owners took place in Heel, Netherlands.
In May 1978, about 140 Honda Gold Wing owners from different European countries gathered for the first European Treffen.
This event marked the beginning of the tradition of international Gold Wing meetings in Europe.
After the first European Treffen in 1978, national Gold Wing clubs began to appear across Europe.
Among the first clubs were those from:
- Germany
- Switzerland
- France
- The Netherlands
At the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s, clubs from Belgium, Denmark, and the United Kingdom also joined.
As the number of clubs increased, the need for coordination of international activities emerged.
As a result, on March 5, 1983, in the city of Coo (Belgium), representatives of several national clubs officially established the Gold Wing European Federation.
The federation was founded by representatives of several European Gold Wing clubs, including clubs from:
- Belgium
- France
- Germany
- United Kingdom
- Netherlands
- Switzerland

Activities and Treffen
One of the main traditions of the Gold Wing community is the organization of Treffen — international gatherings of Gold Wing owners.
The word Treffen comes from German and means a meeting or gathering.
It is important to understand that:
Treffen are not organized by GWEF, but by the national clubs of member countries.
Each club can organize an international Treffen that becomes part of the official GWEF calendar.
During a typical season, more than 20 Treffen may take place across Europe in different countries.
A typical Treffen program includes:
- an international motorcycle parade
- touring routes and rides
- cultural activities
- meetings of club representatives
- participant awards
- informal networking and exchange of experience
In addition to regular Treffen, large pan-European or anniversary events are sometimes organized to celebrate important milestones in the history of Gold Wing or GWEF.
